Release Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2009

The high quality of Asia’s real estate sector was showcased last night at the Cityscape Awards for Real Estate in Asia at a gala dinner attended by over 200 property developers and industry leaders at Singapore’s Pan Pacific Hotel.

The Award ceremony was a highlight on the social calendar of Cityscape Asia 2009, a highly successful real estate exhibition and conference in Singapore. The Awards recognised developers in 12 categories spanning Corporate Social Responsibility, Green Development, Urban Design and Master Planning through to the best developments in Waterfront, Retail, Commercial, Residential, and Mixed Use Project (with a Built and Future award in each category).

Winning projects this year came from Singapore, Malaysia, China, India and Hong Kong. Two new green awards were introduced for the first time this year. Singapore’s upcoming Ocean Financial Centre by Keppel Land International Limited took home the Best Green Development (Future), while Malaysia’s Leisure Farm Resort by Leisure Farm Corporation Sdn Bhd won the Best Green Development (Built).

Singapore’s luxury residential development, The Sail @ Marina Bay was honoured for being the Best Waterfront Development (Built) and The Central by Far East Organization was recognised as the Best Mixed Used Development (Built). Also, Fusionpolis 2A came up tops in the Best Urban Design & Master Planning category.

Similarly, developments from the People's Republic of China had a strong presence at the Awards. Shanghai ICC was named the Best Commercial / Retail Development (Future), and the CapitaLand Muchuan Green Hope School took home the honours of being the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Development. Also, from Taiwan, Aqua Pearl won the award for Best Mixed Used Development (Future).

India’s Sis Danube and Golf Greens-Golf Condominiums and Mandeville Golf Villas won for Best Residential Development (Built) and Best Residential Development (Future) respectively. Elements by Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation Limited walked away with the Best Commercial/ Retail Development (Built) award. Cityscape Asia’s Group Exhibition Director Graham Wood said: “Cityscape Asia is one of the most important events for leaders in Asia’s real estate industry in the region. Both the event and the award have continued to attract many quality exhibitors and attendees with more than 200 entries for the Awards this year. This reflects that there is still strength and passion in the real estate industry as well as serious interest among the investment community.”

He added that the winners at last night’s Awards ceremony signaled the strong commitment among developers to progress the real estate sector in Asia and showcased Asia’s strong push towards incorporating sustainable features into building design. A panel of international judges rated each project on its contribution to world architecture, culture, invention and imagination, respect for the people and environmental awareness and appropriateness in the emerging and recently developing countries in the Asia region.

Cityscape Asia - part of the world's largest business-to-business real estate event brand - is an annual exhibition and conference focusing on all aspects of the real estate development cycle. The three day event will run from 19 – 21 May 2009 at the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Suntec Singapore).

Top deal-makers from leading developers, banks, institutional investors and investment authorities, as well as senior officers from foremost private equity funds and investment advisory firms will gather at Cityscape Asia to discuss key issues and investment opportunities.
